3 DAY HAIR STUDIO COURSE

The 3-days studio course is designed to unlock the hairstylist creativity through empowering and understanding the importance of the process and technique. Also, products and styling accessories required when creating editorial inspired looks.

The course champions the use of visual intelligence as an important medium for models on shoots, backstage at fashion shows, front stage demonstration work or simply doing clients in the salon.

For the modern hairstylist looking to boost their skill set, understanding the value of visual communication and how to draw inspiration from a variety of sources is a great asset.

DAY ONE
INTRODUCTION TO IMAGERY + VISUAL REFERENCES + MOOD BOARDING

Live demonstration on creating a selected look from visuals. This includes hair cutting, styling and preparation for pictures.

Hands on session creating a version of the demonstrated look. The student is encouraged to communicate their desired look to the teacher.

Product focus session to answer all questions about properties, selection, and use.

Key notes: The student will learn how to interpret the look chosen from a visual reference and adapt to suit clients or models. Use of structural and freehand techniques plus understanding the right use of product to deliver the finished result.

Note: All work by student will be performed on a dolly head.

DAY TWO
DRESSING AND STYLING EDITORIAL HAIR

Discuss the importance of mood, feeling and texture when creating editorial hair up looks.

Live demonstration of techniques and product applications. Use of tools and accessories.

Hands on session creating a version of the demonstrated look personalised by the student’s own vision.

Key notes: Student will learn how to create a variety of textures to suit the mood of the look and how to dress the hair into an editorial chignon/bun/ ponytail complemented with right accessories.

DAY THREE ART INSPIRED FIELD TRIP IN LONDON

The morning will be spent gaining inspiration from a creative location. e.g. Museum, art gallery, library or store.

On return to the salon, a demonstration will show how to deconstruct the visual information and translate it into a conceptual look designed for maximum creative output.

Before the hands-on session the teacher will brief students on how to best achieve the desired look.

Wigs, accessories, materials and more may be used to create the final look.

Debriefing and final Q&A.

Key notes: Students will experience one of London’s many creative spaces, learn to free their imagination when creating a look based on art or items of interest as well as the importance of London Street style and cultural.

Equipment required:

Dolly head - long hair (28 inches minimum) Human hair, not synthetic.
Cutting scissors, combs, and sectioning clips.
A selection of blow dry brushes. Hair grips, pins, elastic bands. Hairdryer.
Curling tongs in two sizes (19mm and 31mm)

Note: Windle will supply tripods, all styling products and art
