“Windle & Moodie has been one of London’s buzziest salons for almost 30 years now and it’s easy to see why. The chic decor, with wooden floors and dark leather seats, has never dated, while the salon’s original founder is still cutting hair. Our favourite part is definitely the hair wash at the beginning: it takes place in a quiet, dark room that feels more like a spa than a hairdressers.”

Harpers Bazaar

“On the brink of a hair meltdown, I approach the salon and notice cool thing number 1: four screens in the window showing films of different hairstyles, all as tempting as each other.

On entering the salon I immediately clock cool thing number 2: the reception area. The large table displaying jars of sweets (yes!), retro games and books perfectly reflect a fun, social and casual atmosphere. There is even a ‘play-area’ in the corner, complete with mirror, hair tools and products for clients to experiment with.

Onto cool thing number 3: a spa-like shampoo room. Pebbled floors, moody lighting, chill-out music and fully reclining chairs – yes, this is definitely the best hair wash I have ever experienced.

And cool thing number 4? My hair an hour later; brilliantly styled and super-glossy. My hair meltdown has been averted and I now await my invitation to a fabulous red carpet event…

Glamour Magazine

“It’s been here 26 years but you wouldn’t know it. Windle & Moodie is as cool and quirky as ever – a maze of interconnecting rooms, all worn wooden floors and editorial snaps lining the walls. And half of the founding duo, Paul Windle – down to earth, in square glasses and a tie – is still at the helm. Describe (badly) what you’re after, and Paul gets it. And he doesn’t just cut to suit what you want now – he’ll give you a style with longevity that grows with you and still holds its own three months later.”

“Last night I paid a visit to the newly vamped Windle & Moodie salon in London’s Covent Garden.

Not only did I love the sleek styling stations (with curved mirrors so you can see your new do at every angle), the shrine to all Neil’s session work down the staircase was pretty impressive (he’s done A LOT), as was the zen-like backwash area. Most ingenious though is the Revolving Hairstyles installation in the salon’s windows, a selection of 3D videos showing the team’s creative efforts, a novel way of showing off exactly what you could get if you book in. Of course the products on offer are top notch too, all your favourite Bumble & Bumble goodies (with some even available in super sizes, *scream*) as well as the salon’s own, utterly brilliant WAM styling tongs.

Covent Garden get ready: I predict a stampede.”

“From catwalk to the kerb’ is Windle & Moodie’s mantra, and few are more qualified to do so. Following a revamp last year, its Covent Garden salon features 2,500 square feet of styling space, plastered with shots of its greatest cuts – from Kate Moss hair-swishing in Vogue to Gwyneth Paltrow’s enviable choppy bob. Everyone from the receptionist to the in-house hair blogger is disarmingly friendly, and features such as mood lighting by wash stations make it easy to relax. The new speed styling service (£25), created by hairdressers who often work backstage at shows, is the most fashion-savvy in London. And the ingenious addition of speed colouring (£35 for 45mins) makes it an ideal spot for a lavish lunchbreak

Timeout London

“Imagine, if you will, a hair salon, art gallery and sweet shop all mixed into one. Well, that’s exactly how we’d describe the Windle & Moodie salon in Covent Garden. It’s one of the hottest hair salons around, with vibes of a cool south east London art gallery and Willy Wonker sweet shop. If the artistic video installations which play in the windows don’t lure you in, the pictures of Kate Moss and Gwyneth Paltrow hanging on the walls and gumball sweets and fun games like the Rubik’s Cube in reception sure will. It’s got pre-party blowdry all over it.”

“Friends say I look sophisticated and I’m being taken more seriously. My hair is a great version of Emma’s crop — I’m delighted!”

Michelle Hill for the Daily Mail

“What makes Windle & Moodie stand out from the crowd is its warm and welcoming contemporary feel which attracts people from all walks of life and all ages. This gives this salon its unique charm.”

All About Hair

“This low-key luxury salon is located in the heart of trendy Covent Garden and specialises in styling and colouring hair for photo shoots. Covers from magazines like Vogue adorn the walls, so you know you’re in good hands. The decor is calm and minimalist, with a zen hair washing room complete with massaging chairs and relaxing music – falling asleep is almost inevitable!”
