Cindy Lauper coined the phrase “Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun” with her first hit single back in 1983. And she did exactly that. One thing she definitely had fun with was her hair too, and so we’re paying homage to this American performer and her numerous outlandish and colourful hairstyles who also helped shape the 80’s music scene for women.
Her debut solo album She’s So Unusual (1983) was the first debut female album to chart four top five hits on the US Billboard Hot 100 with Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun, Time After Time, She Bop and All through The Night which earned her the Best New Artist Award at the 27th Grammy Awards in 1985.
And just for a bit of extra fun, here’s her Girls Just Wanna Have fun video, which incidentally the last time we looked had over 109 million views on Youtube.
And so to Cyndi’s numerous hairstyles – You decide which is your favourite, we’re kind of torn…
