ON THE EVENING OF TUESDAY 2ND FEB WE ATTENDED OUR SALON ASSISTANTS SEMINAR EVENING, HELD AT THE WINDLE AND MOODIE SALON.
They were given the theme of Valentines as a reference point and depending on what stage they are at with their training depended on what work they would present. This meant we would see a broad spectrum of styles and haircuts. All our staff were blown away by the high standard of their work and how much thought they’d put into what was such an inspiring evening.
They took the Valentines theme and ran with it. As we walked into the lower ground floor of the salon where it was held there were heart shaped balloons and miniature red paper hearts scattered all over the floor. It was beautifully thought out, and as the seminar began with their own personally chosen music for each model to walk out to, they presented their styles, explaining what they had created and where their inspirations had come from.
Because of the high quality of work we’ve decided to share all the looks they created with you as some Valentine’s inspiration, giving a brief description of each style including each Windle London product they used to create their looks.
The assistants are Pricilla, Beca, Danielle, Adam, Larry, Valentina and Linnea. Linnea spearheaded the team, being the most experienced of all the assistants.
So lets begin…
HAIR BY PRICILLA
Pricilla’s gravity defying up-do was inspired by The Queen of Hearts playing card. She layered Windle and Moodie Foundation Spray with Fortifying Spray, power dried in with middle parting.
Tonged the entire hair with WAM size 13 Revolving Iron. With 3 hair donuts attached each side of the head, the hair was backcombed at the roots and then pinned into the hair donuts to create the volume. With the use of hairdryer and Sculpture hairspray the curls were precisely fixed into place. Cream Sheen was smoothed over the surface hair for shine and some Sculpture Hairspray, hairspray glitter and powder spray were used to finish.
HAIR BY PRICILLA
This Androgynous asymmetric haircut was created by Pricilla as a partner for her Queen of Hearts. Prepared with Foundation Spray she worked with different angles to create contrast between the sharpness and softness . The scissor over comb technique was used around the back and undercut side. The top was left heavy but a slicing technique was used through the interior to help give contrast for the slices of red and pink colour. Blow dried to the side to show off asymmetry and undercut, the WAM compact Mini Straightening Irons were run through the top. Look was finished with Cream Sheen for shine smoothness .
HAIR BY ADAM
To create his romantic tumbling curls up-do, Adam misted dry hair with Light Satin Hairspray on the top and tonged using WAM Size 13 Revolving Iron then brushed out to create a foundation. A hair donut was added to create extra volume and hold so hair could be pinned to it.
The Underneath sections were curled using WAM Size 25 Revolving Irons. Curls were then loosened to create the texture. The larger curls were then carefully pinned to the upper foundation, with one 1 large tendril left to hang down at the side for a more romantic feel. The finished look was secured with Sculpture Hairspray.
AIR BY DANIELLE
Danielle was inspired by old Hollywood Glamour. Foundation Spray was layered with Thickening Cream for hold. The asymmetric shape was created by sleeking the hair back on one side with Thickening Cream and blow-dried into place, securing with Sculpture Hairspray.
Blow dried with a round brush to create volume and waves the hair was brushed out and Cream Sheen was added for shine and misted with Sculpture Hairspray to hold.
COLOUR: : The ends of the hair were first lightened with a Balayage technique, then a vibrant red was applied over all the hair. This gave the hair an all over red hue with the ends being more brighter and vibrant from the lightening.
HAIR BY LARRY
Larry created his modern, romantic up-do first with a ponytail placed on the crown area with two hair donuts added on to it to help create the volume. Oceanic Spray and Fortifying Spray were diffused into the hair surrounding the ponytail. This hair was attached to the ponytail donuts. An Alice band was placed in front of the ponytail. The front hair was curled with WAM size 13 Revolving Irons with Light Satin Hairspray, and then attached to the ponytail. A large bandana was then tied around to cover the alice band. Hair was decorated using colour hair crayons and flower leaves which wet attached using Matte Paste and Sculpture Hairspray to secure.
HAIR BY VALENTINA
Valentina is the youngest member of the team. she has just started to learn to cut hair. Her model had long hair and she decided to cut it shorter, into a classic graduated bob, that was slightly A Line in shape (where the front is longer) This is her first bob haircut ever. BRAVA Valentina!!
Blow dried with Thickening Cream and finished with Matte Texture Spray and layered with Invisible Day & Night Cream. Adorned with a small headband, just for Valentines.
HAIR BY LINNEA
Linnea’s 3 hairstyles are inspired by 20s flapper girls. Their short bobs, dramatic styling and liberal minds.
FINGER WAVES: Thickening cream was applied throughout damp hair. With a fine tooth comb finger waves were created and layered over each other. Sculpture Hairspray was then layered on top and it was set dried under heat. Gold Spray was added onto the dried waves.
SHORT FLAPPER BOB WITH FRINGE: This 20’s Flapper Bob was cut to just below the cheekbones to frame the face and the fringe curves slightly upwards for a more dramatic feel.
Blow dried with Fortifying spray and smoothed with WAM Compact Mini Straightening Irons.
Finished with Cream Sheen for shine and extra smoothness and adorned with gold spray on the parting.
FINGER WAVED PINNED BOB: Thickening Cream was applied at the roots over Foundation Spray and Fortifying Spray applied to the lengths. Hair was then curled with WAM size 13 Revolving Irons in alternating directions. This was brushed out and waves shaped around the parting. Misted with Sculpture Hairspray, a net with pins were used to push the long hair into a bob whilst setting the length with a hairdryer. Gold was sprayed on the top to exaggerate the shape of the waves.
HAIR BY BECA
Beca took the Dark Fairytale theme as her inspiration for this couture hairstyle. She power dried Foundation Spray layered with Thickening Cream into the hair for hold. Hair was sectioned off from ear to ear.
The underneath hair was braided to create an anchor for the hair pieces to attach to. Top section was slicked back using Light Satin Hairspray. The ends were set in a figure of 8 pattern.
The hair pieces were made with fibre Afro hair, brushed out and opened up, to create a webbed effect, then sprayed with Sculpture hairspray and set into waved shapes with WAM Digital Straightening Irons straighteners at 100c The hair pieces were added one by one creating shapes with a small heart in the middle, lightly misting with Sculpture hairspray to set the pieces. Black pins were positioned within the sleek hair to create a rose thorn effect.
I hope you enjoyed all these looks and got some inspiration from them. Have a wonderful Valentines!!!!!!!
