Sometime back in 1996 I took my 3rd ever trip to NYC with my friend, photographer Corinne Day. This trip was my actual relocating to New York to live.
There was a new model on the fashion scene having a moment who was from Belgium. That girl was Tanga Moreau. Corinne adored the way Tanga looked and asked if she could shoot her for an up and coming Allure Magazine shoot. It was agreed that there would be two girls in the shoot, Tanga and another model who Corinne adored called Erika Strumquist.
So where is Erika in the pictures I hear you asking? Well the bottom line is that Ricky Vider Rivers, the fashion editor on this shoot didn’t like Erika’s look when she arrived, so even though we spent a whole day shooting her, Ricky had all the pictures of Erika dropped, and so the whole shoot ended up being on Tanga.
This shoot was mainly shot in my brand new apartment I’d acquired at the time. I was just about to move to New York and had rented this place with my room mate to be Racheal. The apartment was pretty empty as we’d just got it. It’s funny seeing it in these pictures after all this time, it’s like it was yesterday. I also remember the picture of Tanga with the lantern was in our back yard. This particular picture was supposed to be a double page with many lanterns that Corinne had hung up, but the magazine cut it to a single page.
